Places to go Bratislava

St Martin's Cathedral and its adjoining seminary retain the atmosphere of a major mediaeval religious site, which was used for coronations, especially when the seminarians in their robes are passing through the surrounding streets.

The Castle is not only of architectural and historical interest, but it offers one of the best views of the city, which is especially pretty seen lit up in the evening.

The Slovak National Gallery is the place to find the unknown treasures of Slovakian art and craft, and is especially noted for its amazing collection of Gothic church art.

On the other hand, the Slovakian National Museum focuses on the flora and fauna of the country, its prehistoric inhabitants and its natural history, and has a reputation for putting on excellent temporary exhibits.

While Bratislava's city centre may be small compared with other European capitals, its size lends it a certain charm which is lacking in the larger cities, and in this small area are concentrated many restaurants, bars and cafés, international and Slovakian national cuisine. It is especially lively in spring and summer. The city also has larger shopping centres and sports facilities, too.

In addition, there are the city's many attractive parks, the Zoo, and the Botanical Gardens attached to the Comenius University.
